The Enemy Within Prologue: at the Three Feathers. (Session 11)
On the 24th of April 2026, I ran the 11th sessions of my home Enemy Within Campaign. Nurgle and the Changer of Ways have both had their merry fun with us this last month or so, so sorry that their hasn't been a post.
11:15 pm, 5th of Nachexen, 2512, The Three Feathers Inn, north of Stirgau.
Diethart and Erik are awakened by a knocking at the door to their room, Bleary-eyed they rouse themselves and got to the door, where they find one of the Gravin's staff at their door, with an invitation to speak with Gustaf Rechtshandler, the Gravin's lawyer.
The pair dress quickly, and make their way to the other wing of the Inn, where Gustaf explains he is being blackmailed by some of the other guests and asks the pair to deal with the issue, however, Rechtshandler is unwilling to share much detail on the nature of what he wants done, or why he is being blackmailed. Even in the face of 20gp, Diethart and Erik decide that without more information they aren't willing to engage in what they think is likely a cold blooded murder plot.
They return to their room, get changed, get into bed, and are just drifting off when...

Our vagabonds are all awoken by a loud banging and shouting coming from down stairs. Leaping from bed, still in the nice night cloths provides by the establishment including a night cap. Diethart and Erik rush to the top of the stairs, looking down into the common room. Connie sticks her head out of her and Maria's room to find out what is going on.
A drunk man and three thugs burst their way in looking for "Pfeifraucher" a man who is unknown to the estalishment. Diethart starts shouting abuse at the new comer for disturbing his sleep, but when it is revealed that Pfeifraucher's barge is present and they gather from context clues that this may be an affair of honour and the heart, Erik and Diethart point the ruffians in the direction of the Herr and Frau Schmidt of Stirgau. The vagabonds watch as the man they know as Herr Schmidt is horse whipped from the establishment by the angry drunkard.
As Erik and Diethard return to bed, they notice that Diethard's dagger is missing, and ask the barman to keep an eye out for it. With all the noise and excitement done for now, they return to their room, get changed, get into bed, and are just drifting off when...

Midnight, 6th of Nachexen, 2512, The Three Feathers Inn, north of Stirgau.
Shouting and banging emerges from a near by room, and the who party rouse themselves and go to see what is going on, only to find that the landlord is in front of the Morrian's room, barring entry and trying to calm worried customers who have gathered to find out what is going on. the vagabonds start to demand refunds, given the terrible nights sleep they are getting, and eventually return to their room, seemingly convinced that the Morrian's are merely undertaking their duties.

A woman's scream rings out over on the other side of the building and the vagabond start to pull on their cloths once again. Once dressed they mill around, waiting for word on what has happened, only to be gathered down stairs by the Gravin's guards, along with Maria and Pompai.
The Gravin comes down, with several staff and explains that her judicial champion has been murdered. The method? A dagger in the back.
She then present the dagger, by sigmar, Diethard says "Oh, theirs my dagger!"

1:20am, 6th of Nachexen, 2512, The Three Feathers Inn, north of Stirgau.
The Vagabonds, Maria and Pompai find themselve in a much smaller room than. Much of the last hour, since being thrown in here at the Gravin's command, has been spend stopping Maria and Pompai lashing out at each other, and Diethard trying to figure out how he is now the Gravin's new champion.
The answer arrives with a summons to the Gravin's room, where she explains to the Vagabonds that she is not remotely of the opinion that they killed Bruno, her champion, because even they could not have been so stupid as to leave their own dagger behind and THEN admit to it in such a show. She intends to use them to set a trap for the real assassin. She return their weapons, and armour, and put them in Bruno's room, and has them wait.

The Vagabonds, struggle to stay awake, with Diethart and Erik falling asleep, but in when the scratching in the chimney starts, Connie is able to wake the others. They move up to the chimney, and as the assassin descend, they great her with a dagger tip. There is a brief period of bartering, bargaining and begging, and then the Vagabond send for the Gravin's guards
